👑 Beginner Drag
Your first drag face doesn't need to cost $500. Here's exactly what to buy — total under $50 — to get stage-ready as a beginner.
The drag makeup industry is full of expensive products you don't need as a beginner. We've tested drugstore and budget options that perform like high-end — sometimes better.
This kit covers the essentials: coverage, setting, brows, eyes, and highlight/contour. Everything is available on Amazon or at Target/Ulta for fast pickup in SF.
Prep your skin first. A good skincare routine (cleanser + moisturizer + SPF) makes any makeup look better and last longer. See our Starter Kit guide.
Every product is beginner-friendly, widely available, and genuinely good.

Six products. Reusable across multiple looks. Way under most people's "starter drag" budget.
Drag makeup order matters — here's the sequence for this kit.
Cleanser → moisturizer → SPF or primer. Let it absorb fully. This is what makes your makeup last and look smooth — don't skip it.
Lightly mist NYX Setting Spray on your bare face and let it dry. This creates a tacky base that helps everything stick.
Apply your base. If using liquid foundation, apply it first. Then set with the Revolution HD Pressed Powder, building coverage where needed (especially beard area if applicable).
Use Dipbrow with a small angled brush. Work in short hair-like strokes for natural, or draw bold arched shapes for full drag. Brows frame the whole look.
Apply shadow stick, blend, then apply Ardell Wispies with lash glue. Wait 30 seconds for glue to get tacky before pressing to lash line.
Dab e.l.f. Halo Glow on cheekbones, brow bone, and nose tip. Then seal everything with a final mist of NYX Setting Spray. You're done.
